Paraguay's Ambitious GDP Doubling Plan Hinges on Massive New Power Capacity, Analysis Warns
To achieve its goal of doubling GDP by 2035, Paraguay must add roughly 7,000 megawatts of new power—equivalent to half of Itaipu's capacity—or risk an energy bottleneck, according to a study by the Industrial Union of Paraguay (UIP) and projections from the national electricity authority ANDE.
