On Sunday night, around 7 p.m., volunteer firefighters in Concepción responded to a call about the presence of a red macaw — gua'a pytã — near the headquarters of the Departmental Board of Concepción, at the intersection of Brasil and Carlos Antonio López streets, in the city center.
The duty team confirmed the incident and proceeded to capture the exotic bird. The rescue was reported to the prosecutor of the Specialized Environmental Unit, who is expected to decide on the animal's fate this Monday.
For now, the macaw remains under care at the volunteer fire station.
