Hot Saturday in Asunción Precedes Storms and Sharp Temperature Drop

Paraguay's Directorate of Meteorology and Hydrology forecasts a hot day for this Saturday (16), with highs between 22 and 27 °C, before the arrival of severe storms that could bring winds up to 80 km/h and hail. From Sunday (17), the weather remains unstable in the north of the country, and on Monday (18) a cold front drops temperatures, with lows below 11 °C and highs not exceeding 19 °C.

This Saturday morning (16) began with dense fog over much of Paraguayan territory. The Directorate of Meteorology and Hydrology indicates a trend of hot weather throughout the day, with maximum temperatures between 22 and 27 °C and variable winds that should shift to the southeast during the night.

However, the probability of rain increases significantly due to the development of storm nuclei. These systems can cause severe weather phenomena, mainly affecting the northern and eastern regions of both areas of the country. Precipitation accumulations should be between 40 and 80 mm, with wind gusts up to 80 km/h and a high probability of localized hail. The population is advised to take precautions and consult the Special Bulletin for Storm Systems for details on affected areas and occurrence periods.

Unstable conditions are expected to persist during Sunday (17) in the north of the country. Improvement in weather is expected only on Monday (18). Subsequently, a cold front advances over all of Paraguay, causing a progressive drop in temperatures. In the coming days, lows may fall below 11 °C and highs should not exceed 19 °C, establishing a cool to cold environment.
